computations are a big aspect of math
associated with "kids", b/c familiar from primary/secondary school,
as opposed to college proofs.

EG of basic algorithms: addition with carrying, polynomial
multiplication, long division, etc.
...but many others.
some people very much like computations;
others prefer (general) theorems

computations often only work when there's some symmetry / geometry (trig
subs)
theorems (like linearity of derivative, or Leibnitz formula, or
Seifert-Van Kampen) allow computations
