Notes on effects of psychology in my calc classes:

Woah...the fact that I try to scare people away, that I say
"You -can- go, you always -can- withdraw."
...paradoxically makes people -more- disturbed, more stressed:
b/c they know that at some level -they- are responsible.
[think of nazi guards who were told they -could- leave]
